WELCOME!
The Holtville Elementary School Library is open daily 8:00 am-2:30pm. Student circulation is 8:00 am-2:00 pm daily. The library has a blended schedule for students. Flexible Schedule and Daily Schedule provide students with amble opportunity to visit, check in/out library books and enjoy lessons.
Our library us Accelerated Reader as an incentive for student reading achievement. STAR & STAR Early Literacy are baseline computer assessments that give students a reading range that allow students to be successful and achieve reading goals.
Students will check out books according to their ATOS and Lexile levels, which is based on the STAR test. In accordance with the Alabama Standards, it is recommended that students check out a fiction and nonfiction title. K-1st grade will be checking out 1-2 books each week. 2nd-4th grade will check out 3 books.
Home Connect Parent Information portal is an excellent opportunity to check your child’s progress in AR. Goals are established through the comprehension quizzes taken after the student reads the book. Accuracy is a percentage of all the tests taken. Students are encouraged to keep their accuracy levels at 85-90%. Ribbons are given to students who achieve 100% points and 85% accuracy.
