Fourth Grade

I received my Collaborative Education degree from Auburn University Montgomery in December 2013. I received my Master's Degree in Elementary Education in December 2016. I also have a Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership (2018). I am a Highly Qualified Teacher with certifications Elementary Education, Special Education and Instructional Leadership. While at AUM, I received many honors such as making the Dean's List several times and being nominated by the Special Education department as “Most Outstanding Student.”

I am an active member of my sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and I am also very involved at my church. I love learning and pushing myself to be the best that I can be, while also serving in the community. I will push your child the way I push myself in life, because maximizing their learning potential is my duty as a teacher. My job as a teacher is to bring out the best in students. I married my college sweetheart on July 18th, 2015. We have 3 beautiful 4-legged fur babies and plan to have some of our own very soon!

In the spring of 2013, I completed my Professional Internship at Airport Road Elementary School in the areas of Elementary Education and Special Education. I had many wonderful experiences there that molded me into the teacher that I am today. I was hired at Holtville Elementary during the summer of 2013. The rest is history!

Welcome to Holtville Elementary School. I am honored that you have chosen this school for your child to grow, learn and flourish in. My name is Erica Burge, and I teach fourth grade Math, Science and Alabama History. I have been teaching at Holtville for five years. Since fourth grade is the year of transition, I work very hard to prepare our students for the middle school. Besides the curriculum, I focus on teaching responsibility, accountability, and character traits that will mold your child into a well-rounded citizen. There is no greater joy than seeing my students blossom at the middle school when they join clubs, hold offices and continue to excel academically. I look forward to teaching your child and making memories that will last a lifetime!
