Education

I worked my way through college as a substitute teacher at Holtville Elementary School. I received my Bachelor's Degree in May of 2005. I began working at Holtville Elementary School in August of 2005 as a first grade teacher. In 2008 I became the Pre-first teacher at Holtville Elementary. I taught Pre-first for 3 years and enjoyed watching the students grow and learn. In 2011, I began teaching second grade. This will be my third year teaching second grade. I enjoy teaching this grade level.

Experience

My experience began as a Senior at Appalachian High School where I took a course in Early Childhood Development. After high school I went to Jefferson State Junior College to continue my degree in Early Childhood Education.

My education was put on hold while I raised my own family. During this time I worked a a Four Year Old Kindergarten Teacher and eventually became the Assistant Director at Kinder Care Learning Center. As my children entered school I began working within the school system. First as an After-School Care teacher then as an aide for Kindergarten and First Grade.

When my family moved to Holtville, I went back to school to get my degree in Elementary Education. During this time I worked as a Substitute Teacher at HES. I began teaching first grade in 2005, Pre-first in 2008, and second grade in2011.

Bio

Hello,

My name is Lisa Majerik. I am a second grade teacher at Holtville Elementary.

I began my career working with children as a preschool teacher at Kinder Care Learning Center in Center Point. I eventually became the Assistant Director. As my own children reached school age, I went to work within the school system. I started as a teacher in the After School Program. From there I began substitute teaching. Later, I became a teacher's aide for both kindergarten and first grade. When my family moved to the Holtville Area, I decided to get a college degree in education. I worked my way through college as a substitute teacher at Holtville Elementary School. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Education, I began working as a first grade teacher at Holtville Elementary School in 2005.

In 2008, I began teaching Pre-first. Pre-first gives students who struggled in kindergarten a chance to "catch-up" on skills they may have missed or not understood. It is a great bridge between kindergarten and first grade. Many students go on to do well in first grade. I considered it a privilege to work with these students.

In 2011, I began teaching second grade. I enjoy teaching this grade level. It is rewarding to see the growth and maturity of this age group as the year progresses.

I enjoy my time teaching. My personal goal is to help each child discover their own capabilities and develop a passion for learning. I hope to instill in my students a passion for learning. I believe learning can be fun and hope to share that belief with all my students.
